Can CashUSA access my phone contacts and photos?

Back

No—because CashUSA does not have a mobile app.

This is the only good news about CashUSA's privacy practices. Since they operate exclusively through their website (cashusa.com) and not through a downloadable mobile application, they cannot:

  • Scrape your phone's contact list
  • Access your photo gallery
  • Read your text messages
  • Intercept your calls

However—and this is a massive "however"—CashUSA collects almost everything ELSE about you voluntarily through their website form.

What CashUSA Collects Directly from You :

The "Prior to 2024" Warning:

You are absolutely correct. Before 2024, Google Play Store policies were significantly looser. Many predatory apps tricked users into granting "Storage" or "Phone" permissions, then scraped entire contact lists. If you used any loan app prior to 2024, assume your contacts were harvested and take immediate action:

  1. Delete the app immediately
  2. Change all your passwords
  3. Warn your contacts to ignore debt-related messages about you

What You Should Do NOW Regarding CashUSA:

  • If you applied to CashUSA: They likely have your SSN, bank account, and employment data. Monitor your credit and bank accounts closely.
  • If you are considering applying: Do not. There are legitimate lenders that do not sell your data.
  • Check for unauthorized loan apps: Go to Settings > Apps on your phone. If you see any unfamiliar loan-related apps, check their permissions immediately. Revoke Contacts, Photos, and Storage permissions if enabled.

Conclusion: CashUSA cannot access your phone contacts because they lack an app. But they collect more sensitive information through their website (bank credentials, SSN, driver's license) than most predatory apps ever could. Your data is not safer just because they use a website instead of an app—it is just different.
