Is CheckMate registered with the Financial Conduct Authority?

Back

CheckMate's known lending operations exist exclusively in the United States (Arizona, California, Colorado, Alabama). As a result, they are not registered with the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Your Rights as a Borrower (Regardless of Registration):

Even if a lender is not registered with your local regulatory body, you retain fundamental rights:

  • ✅ The Right to Clear Terms: You must receive a written contract stating the loan amount, interest rate, repayment schedule, and total cost before signing anything.
  • ✅ The Right to Privacy: A lender cannot share your personal data with third parties without your explicit consent.
  • ✅ The Right to Fair Treatment: Harassment, threats, or deceptive practices are illegal regardless of registration status.
  • ✅ The Right to Dispute: You can challenge unauthorized withdrawals or incorrect charges with your bank.

Before downloading any "CheckMate" app, verify its listing on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Check the developer name, contact email, and privacy policy. If this information is missing or suspicious, do not install.
