What happens if I give CashNetUSA access to my contacts?
The Ugly Reality
Once a predatory loan app has your contacts, they may:
- Call your employer to pressure you into paying
- Message your family about your debt
- Threaten to "shame you publicly" if you don't pay
- Create group chats with your contacts to humiliate you
🔥 PROTECT YOURSELF: Do not—under any circumstances—grant contact or photo access to any loan app. If an app REQUIRES these permissions to function, it is a predatory tool. DELETE IT IMMEDIATELY. Legitimate lenders do NOT need your contacts to verify your identity.
If You Have Already Given Access
- Revoke permissions immediately (Steps above in Question 5)
- Warn your contacts that they might receive harassing messages
- Report the app to Google/Apple for policy violations
- File a complaint with your data protection regulator
