Can loan apps post my pictures on social media?

You should not worry about loan apps threatening to post your picture on social media. If you check their accounts, you’ll notice most of them have fewer than 100 followers. This means they are mainly circulating your picture among themselves just to instill fear in you. Never pay a dime if any loan app posts your picture online; they are actually the ones owing you, not the other way around. Instead, report the account to the appropriate social media platform, and it will likely be closed down.

Can they auto-debit my account?

If you linked (bound) your ATM card during registration with a loan app, they can automatically debit your account. To prevent this, you should go to your bank, block the card, and request a new one.

For fully licensed Microfinance Banks that may use the Global Standing Instruction (GSI) or place a lien on your account, the safest option is to move your money to another bank account that has never been registered with loan apps. This will stop them from debiting your funds.

Can they come to my house or office to arrest me?

99% of loan apps cannot come to your house or office because most of them operate illegally and have no legal right to pursue you physically. Only fully licensed and approved Microfinance Banks with a registered office address and reputation as a legitimate financial institution can pay you a friendly visit, but never to arrest you.

Borrowing is a civil matter, not a criminal case. That means you cannot be arrested simply because you owe money. If any licensed microfinance bank tries to harass or threaten you, please contact us immediately—we will take the right steps to deal with them.

As for loan apps, they cannot legally come to your house or office to arrest you.

Can this loan app defame me?

Yes and No, a loan app can defame you, but it usually depends on where you downloaded the app from and what permissions you gave it.

If you downloaded the app outside the Play Store or App Store (for example, from a direct link or third-party site), it’s very likely the app will misuse your information. Many of those apps are not properly regulated.
How they access your contacts:

Loan apps need Contact permission to copy your phone contacts.
They also sometimes request Call log permission, which allows them to see your dialed, received, and missed calls—but not your full contact list.

From 2023 onward, Google Play Store and Apple App Store introduced policies that restrict apps from accessing contacts and call logs unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Will this loan apps report me to the Credit Bureau?

In most cases, 90% of loan apps cannot report you to the Credit Bureau. This is because many of them are not licensed financial institutions or they charge exorbitant interest rates that violate government policies.

However, fully licensed and approved microfinance banks can report you to the Credit Bureau. Even when they do, they usually report only the actual amount you borrowed and the original agreed interest — not the inflated charges or penalties. I am highly disappointed with your loan app. Av been trying to repay my loan for 2days through the app but not responding. You do not even post your bank account details for offline payment. As a first timer, am pissed off. Please don't blame me for default, you are the cause.

To be fair, ImoneyPlus is a good loan app. I have used it for awhile and not really had any issues... My only set back about you guys and this happens to be a plead, please increase your payment days... 7 or 8 days is quite too short... atleast 14 days to make payments flexible for your customers. A very good app all the same .

This is my first time of using this app and am seriously not impressed I requested for a loan since 11am and it was approved but up till now 8pm am yet to be credited the dashboard have been showing disbursing but I Ve not seen anything I have sent email and even a text to your hotlines but no reply yet

I wish there was a minus that's what I would have given to this loan agency. I mean it wasn't even time for me to pay back yet and they started sending me threat messages that they will embarrass me. What's that supposed to mean? your customer service is terrible! Absolutely unethical and the person who contacted me really lacks manner of approach and is so unprofessional! I give this app 3 stars, I have been using it, but it doesn't disburse immediately, I don't know if it's network issue or what, I have applied since getting to 3hrs now they have not still disbursed, they should also work on their interest rate, it's too high, I will come back to give them 4stars when am credited, but at least, the process is good, not lengthy.

My experience with this app is annoying.. Imagine adding wrong account number for repayment, and when I reached out to the helplines concerning the problem, they sent me another account to pay in, which I did. But they never stopped sending me annoying Overdue loan text. And calling too. I even sent the proof of payment to Thier email address, but they never stopped calling and texting. They even started threatening to reach out to my contacts to tell them I haven't paid. Wrong people...

The interest rate is too high and the method of reducing money on their app is really really annoying. Imagine you we have 81,000 as the highest you can withdraw and maybe you need 10k, the means of reducing it is 100, 100 naira, till u reach the 10k after an hour. Really annoying

Easy loan application, prompt disbursement but the interest is too high and the 7 days duration is too short to refund 24k on 17k loan. As loan credit increases so should repayment duration increases, else many customers will default in their repayment. Create an extension facility with a token fee like Fairmoney app. If not, I won't patronize you again.
