You can never finish paying them
In my case, I owed 35+ loan apps. You can never finish paying them. my debt grew to about ?2.5 million naira after paying millions of naira to service debt for 3 years and all my businesses collapsed.
You can read my story here

What you can do now is to
- Remove all permissions they have on your phone,
- Install Truecaller and block all Spam calls and messages so that you can have your sanity back
- Block them on WhatsApp
- Remove Your pictures and your family from Facebook
- Stop reading their messages as they may instill fear in you
Don't worry about your contacts. In reality, only a small fraction of them genuinely care about you. Reflect on how many of your contacts you could call for financial assistance and receive a prompt response.
These might likely be your immediate thoughts: 'Ah, my contacts! my Contacts!'
- I come from a reasonably wealthy family.
- I educate people on how to generate income.
- I'm proficient in digital skills training and programming.
- Many people look up to me.
- What will my clients say?
- What will family and Friends say?
- My business partners will be disappointed.
- Revealing this could jeopardize my job if my CEO finds out.
- I hope my brothers haven't heard about this yet.
These were my thoughts too, and I found myself ensnared in the deep bondage and dungeon of loan shark apps until my debt exceeded ?3 million naira, having transacted over ?10 million naira with these lenders. Looking back, I find it difficult to forgive myself for falling so easily into their trap. Eventually, I was publicly shamed with serious repercussions almost every day for about two months. LCredit alone contacted more than half of my contacts. Imagine, approximately 25 apps bombarding my contacts with messages almost every week
You have two options here:
- You can either let it go by simply ignoring them, blocking them, and allowing them to do their worst, freeing yourself from their bondage.
- Or you can continue with them and cause further damage to your financial stature and even your health. You may never finish paying them because their daily interest will swallow the original capital. Imagine 2%-5% interest every day; in 30 days, the amount will be doubled. After that, they will defame you.
The choice is yours to make. Do not allow them to maintain their grip on you. They are evil and Satanic! They will force you to:
- Resort to manipulating people and collecting money just to service loans.
- Lose trust with others regarding money because of constant excuses.
- Sell properties to service the loan, hoping to avoid having your name published.
- Witness some individuals resorting to suicide due to defamation by loan apps.
- Endure numerous other consequences tarnishing your name and image, all because you were pressed by evil loan apps.
- See your family suffer, unable to eat as desired, and facing difficulties paying school fees.
- Risk the complete collapse of your business by solely relying on loan apps.
Way Forward
When you receive a WhatsApp message from an unknown sender, it's best not to read their messages, as it may instill more fear in you. Simply ignore the message, respond with a firm "GbasGbos" and block and report the sender on WhatsApp. Usually, after one month, they will leave you alone.
Once they defame you, do not pay them again. Instead, tell them to collect the money from your contacts. The deed is already done, so why would you pay them? Additionally, keep all the messages sent to you by their agent for future reference, especially in the case of court proceedings. Block them on WhatsApp and report them as spam on Truecaller. Also, report them on WhatsApp. If they are on the Google Play Store, report them directly through the store and not through reviews.
You can try this method, but it may not prevent all loan apps from accessing your information.
- Long-press the app icon.
- Select 'App info' (usually represented by an 'i' icon).
- Clear the cache and mobile data for the app.
- Deny all access permissions within the app settings.
- Turn off background mobile data sharing.
- Force stop the app.
- Open the Chrome browser on your phone.
- Enter www.googlecontacts.com in the address bar.
- You will see all the contacts saved in your Google account.
- Create a new Google account and save approximately 200 contacts on googlecontacts.com.
- Remove your current Google account from your phone and replace it with the new Google account, using fictitious or random numbers.
- Ensure that your real contacts are backed up on Google Contacts and are no longer stored on your phone.
- Once you have successfully backed up your contacts, proceed.
- Launch all loan apps and grant them permission to access your contacts.
- Stay within each app for about 10 minutes to allow new contacts to sync.
- After the sync process, revoke all permissions for the loan apps.
- When finished, remove the temporary Google account and revert back to your original contacts.
- This process is designed to add new contacts to the existing ones so that non-genuine contacts may be detected when loan apps attempt to access them. However, it may not fully replace the data stored in their databases.
- Note that this approach may not be effective for many loan apps.
We strongly advise you to steer clear of loan apps because they have nothing to offer you. They can easily sell your data to hackers on black market websites, the very information hackers spend months and years gathering
