My Journey with Loan Apps: A Cautionary Tale
Good evening, everyone. I want to share a little story about my experiences with loan apps. It all started in 2021 when I first began taking loans. Life was good for me then, and I always managed to repay the loans before the due date.
The Beginning: Easy Money
Good evening, everyone. I want to share a little story about my experiences with loan apps. It all started in 2021 when I first began taking loans. Life was good for me then, and I always managed to repay the loans before the due date. Whenever I ran out of money, my immediate thought was to borrow some more. It became a routine for me.
The Temptation: Bigger Loans
As time went on, things started to change. By 2022, my loan amounts had increased significantly. Every loan app I opened offered me large sums, like 30k, 40k, or even 60k. There was one app that even gave me 90k! I kept borrowing without realizing the trouble I was getting myself into. If a due date was approaching and I didn't have the money to pay back, I would take a loan from another app to cover the payment. It was a vicious cycle, and I didn't see the harm I was doing to myself.
The Crunch: Desperate Measures
One day, I urgently needed money to pay my rent, and my landlord was constantly pressuring me. I decided to buy some data and download multiple loan apps. I managed to gather 190k, enough to pay my 120k rent. I sent the rent money to my landlord, used some of the remaining money for groceries, and bought airtime with the rest, preparing myself for the challenges ahead.
The Crisis: Overwhelmed by Debt
Soon, the due dates for various loans started piling up. Whenever loan agents called, I would hang up and call them back using my airtime. Some agents threatened to send my picture to my contacts, but I wasn't bothered. I had developed a tough skin. (If you want loan sharks to stop harassing you, never reply to their WhatsApp messages—just block the numbers.)
The Resolution: Breaking Free
Despite the harassment and even defamation, I stood firm. Over time, the calls and messages dwindled. My phone hardly rang anymore, and eventually, I stopped receiving messages altogether. I never paid back any of the loans, and now, whenever I enter my Bank Verification Number (BVN) on any app, they reject me outright.
It was quite an experience, but I must caution against taking loans lightly. We all have different capacities to handle stress, and my story shouldn't encourage anyone to take loans irresponsibly. Thank you all for listening. My story might not be the sweetest, but I hope it serves as a lesson.
